Hi! I'm posting to gauge interest for some merchandise. I hope to sell some of the Japanese region 2 DVDs. I have the first one from the first season, and the first and sixth from Haru.

I also am looking to sell all of the image albums, the OSTs from the first and second seasons, and the OP single for the first season. I'm thinking maybe like $15-20 for the image albums at least.

I wanted to post this first because since the series has been licensed, I don't know if anyone would want the region 2 DVDs. I'm happy to provide pictures, everything is in excellent condition and I do have the trading cards that come with the CDs. Come to think of it, I also have a few of the drama CDs if anyone is interested in those.

Review: The Marimite Live Action Movie [23 Oct 2011|05:57pm]

[ mood | calm ]

As I'm reading this blog entry announcing the adaptation made more than a year before, well, my general assessment of the film was that of happy satisfaction, in which the flick was faithful to the original light novel.

First off, whoever did the casting did his/her homework properly (presumably read the LNs and watched all four seasons of the anime adaptation); each lead character, while their physique and hairstyle were sometimes a wee different from the original, their voices and characterizations were nevertheless spot-on good or even fabulous (heck, the girl who played Shimako sounded almost like Mamiko Noto, ditto for the actress playing as Sei Satou).

Brilliantly, they also picked the setting and filming location close enough to the original, down to the old-style wooden desks and the (slightly creaking) wood flooring. It gives you the feeling that you're in the real Lillian.

What about story? The film covers only the first volume, but with a few twists in chronology, and what makes this film set apart from the anime adaptation is the greater emphasis on Yumi's adoration of Sachiko, especially that she gets a glimpse right before that fateful meeting. I can't spoil any more but its storyline really hews to the light novel.

Service? As always, don't expect any more skin exposure or the usual items found in similar-looking shows, but there are those funny little moments of "service", especially during the dress rehearsal.

Overall, I can only say that once again the ones who can appreciate the movie in depth are the fans who have enjoyed reading the novels and watching the anime adaptations, basking in the ideal world of the Roses and their special relationships.

I can only rate this flick a 9/10.

[ mood | excited ]

Surprisingly, this comm has been silent about this announcement, and I've been eagerly waiting for months, so for today I'm bring this up for discussion.

Early reviews, especially those fortunate to watch it onscreen while visiting Japan, revealed that it's somewhat faithful to the original, so I'm hoping that should hold true to me, perhaps even exceeding my expectations.

My body is ready.

BD/DVD information at official site; SRP for the home editions: DVD/BD combo (9870 yen), BD set (3990 yen), DVD set (2940 yen); the DVD/BD combo also includes some other extras.

Yuri Challenge: Round 09 Advertisement [07 Feb 2011|01:21am]

[ mood | devious ]

~~Firstly, we apologize for any spam this may be causing, but we're trying to reach everyone we can! We've done our best to research the communities we're posting to for any advertisement permission requirements, however if we've managed to miss one in our audit, dear mods, please feel free to smite this post where it sits. ^_^~~

Hello, everyone!

I'm writing to invite everyone in this community to yuri_challenge, a yuri/femslash fanfic and fanart challenge community making its return after a long hiatus.

Though this community is not necessarily "yuri-themed" we felt that given the slashability of the characters in this fandom that it might be of healthy interest to those watching it. ;) The bonus of participating this challenge will be that you could quite possibly end up crossposting your submission to the community you're reading in now! Spreading the love and adding to fandom at the same time is a great combo~

Stories and art are based on a prompt for each challenge, and the theme for this Round is "Proverbs" Basically, you will be providing a fandom, pairing, and a proverb, and then it will show up on a biiiiig claims post for people to pick to write or draw from~

All fandoms are welcome (TV/anime/books/etc), however the community does not permit RPF/RPS as we're about the characters, not the people playing them. Sorry!

Prompt submissions for this Round have already started over here, so be sure to join the community and drop off your prompts for folks to peruse!

Thanks for your time in reading. :D

(Live Action) DD Articles on Haru and Alice [04 Dec 2010|09:50pm]

[ mood | busy ]

I suppose someone could translate this properly, as sometimes I feel discomfited with digital translation. I like to read it because they might provide some insights and their feelings about their roles.

Alice -- http://www.dd-magazine.net/2010/11/sp_25.html

Even some interesting tidbits would be fine. :)

From Cobalt November 2010 Issue... [11 Oct 2010|11:36pm]

[ mood | excited ]

Found this one while checking more updates.

The mag now includes a DVD of the making of the live-action movie, and just follow the link below:

Pic 1: Haru (Sachiko) bunching up with the rest of the cast.
Pic 2: Tsutako (Alice Hirose) glomps Yumi.
Pic 3: Before the Play.
Pic 4: Riho Takagi as Shimako.
Pic 5: Kaoru Hinata as Yoko.
Pic 6: Miki (Yumi) having a cocoa/tea break.
Pic 7: Haru feels like having a blast!
Pic 8: Yumi turns around and...
Pic 9: Karen Takizawa as Sei, brooding a bit.
Pic 10: Nana Akiyama as Eriko, slightly goofy. xD
Pic 11: Rikako Sakata as Rei, looking worried.
Pic 12: Riho (Shimako) with that dewy look. Wonder if she could match Mamiko Noto in the voice department.
Pic 13: Hitomi Miyake (Yoshino), in the same quiet state as her first episode persona.
Pic 14: Our favorite shutterbug just ready to shoot.
Pic 15: "Onee-sama..."
Pic 16: "Yes?"
Pic 17: I wonder if that's the scene when she and Yumi were alone at the auditorium.
Pic 18: Made of awe and win: a WAFF moment when she cries her heart out.

Anyone getting this issue would be real lucky; a collector's item! :D

EDIT: OMG, there's more? Yep, this is the CM:

And more pictures? YEAH!

*dances happily*

(Live-Action) AMW Entry [07 Oct 2010|04:10pm]

[ mood | busy ]

Again, I'd like to keep the comm alive with this:

What do you think? Someone had bothered him/herself to translate basic information about the film, and it's interesting to look up and see what other accomplishments the girls have done before, plus some tidbits.

For example, Nana Akiyama (Eriko Torii) had a prior stint as one of the leads in the horror/comedy TV show Guren Onna (which had a girl's school that was a full ringer for Lillian, down to the school uniforms).

Story Translation: The Problem of Adding '-san' [26 Sep 2010|12:03pm]

This is a really short story from volume 31 "Margaret ni Ribbon" about how Yumi, Yoshino and Shimako consider dropping the '-san' in their names when addressing each other.

Notes: I'm still studying Japanese and my dictionary isn't always reliable so it's inevitable that there are some shaky parts (if not all). I also took some liberties with the translation. Um, if there are parts that seem unclear, feel free to inform me.

And please don't post/link elsewhere without my explicit permission. Thanks.

Sachiko/Yumi fic!Search [22 Sep 2010|10:02pm]
Gokigenyou! :)

I am new to the community. Please just let me know if such posts allowed here.

I am looking for a fanfiction story that I began reading a while back. I read it on fanfition.net and it was a Sachiko/ Yumi. It wasn't finished at the time but I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction. Forgive me if the details are a little blurred - I have read so many fics, lol.

From what I can remember, Sachiko refused to marry Suguru and announced to her family that she was in love with Yumi. As a result, Sachiko was pretty much disowned - her father demanded that the Ogasawara name and finances be stripped from her. She showed up at the Fukuzawara residence where they allowed her to stay and take their name (at least for the moment).

Has anyone read something like this? If anyone could point me in the right direction I would be very appreciative. I never got a chance to finish reading it :(
